Teresa, Assistant Director & Family Support Coordinator
Email: assistantdirector@h4kelc.org
Hello, my name is Teresa. I am honored and privileged to be a part of the Hope 4 Kids family.  The family atmosphere and genuine love for children is abundant and I feel that I have found my home at H4K.
I have been working in the early childhood field for over 30 years.  I have worked with all ages from infants up to 5 years old.  My heart and passion has always been with young children. I especially love working with infants because they are such wondrous gifts from God and they never cease to amaze me. The growth and development that takes place during the first years of life amazes me all the time.  My favorite part of working with toddlers is the language growth that takes place.  To see a child that only has one or two word phrases start using three, four, five, and six word phrases is so incredible, it warms my heart.  Watching children grow and master a new skill in preschool is what makes my job so rewarding.  I can't imagine myself ever doing anything else.
I currently have 29 Early Childhood Education (ECE) units, including Administration of Early Childhood Programs, and am working towards getting my A.S. Degree in Child Development.  I hope to eventually get my B.A. Degree in Child Development with a Specialty in Infants and Toddlers. I am also an Outdoor Classroom Project Specialist Level III and have attended several gardening and Preschool Food Initiative workshops. I have worked for several great schools and companies over the years. The school that stands out the most for me is the Child Educational Center (CEC) in La Canada, CA (home of the Outdoor Classroom Project). I worked there for 7 years and grew up there as a teacher. Many of the skills I have acquired have come from this center. While teaching there, I went through the process of Accreditation from the NAEYC two times, was trained in RIE (Resources for Infant Educarers) and PITC (Program for Infant Toddler Care), and went through several in-service trainings on child development that were invaluable to who I am as a teacher.

In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching movies, spending time with my two adult children, Kevin and Ashley, my granddaughter, Sammie, and my wonderful husband, James. I am extremely excited to be the Assistant Director at H4K and I look forward to working with all of the children and parents while doing the whatever is needed to make H4K the best early learning center possible!
